Barry M Chameleon Blue
The idea of colour-changing nail varnishes really excites me, but unfortunately Barry M’s contribution falls down in execution. The base colour is a frosty, mid-blue that I really love, which when painted over with topcoat turns into a maroon colour. The depth of the colour change depends entirely on the thickness of the topcoat you apply, and once it’s on, the colour won’t change any more if you try adding additional coats. As such, it’s really difficult to get a consistent colour.
And of course, since you can’t use a topcoat over the entire nail, Chameleon Blue chips very, very easily. If I’d worn it to work, I can guarantee I’d have lost most of the polish on several fingers very quickly. It’s a cool idea but it just doesn’t work out if you want to use your hands for anything at all.
